Head of Digital Transformation (Birmingham, GB, B4 6AT)

Remote · USA Full-time New today

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Head of Digital Transformation, playing a pivotal role in shaping Amey’s future digital and AI‑driven capabilities. This is a full‑time, permanent position offering remote working.

Over the next few years, our strategic priority is to harness the power of AI and digital capability to accelerate business performance and transform the way we operate. Within our Transport Infrastructure business, we are embedding digital innovation and AI‑driven efficiencies to modernise how we serve our Rail and Highways customers and clients.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the AI & Digital Efficiency Programme, creating a streamlined, data‑driven operating model and directly influencing how the Transport Infrastructure business function, delivers services now and in the future.

You will be responsible for

  • Immersing yourself in Transport Infrastructure operations to understand current processes, pain points, and opportunities for digital or AI‑enabled improvement.
  • Evaluating end‑user needs to ensure digital tools genuinely enhance workflows, usability, and operational efficiency.
  • Staying up to date with emerging AI, automation, and digital technologies, identifying where they can drive measurable value.
  • Leading transformation initiatives from discovery through to delivery, including process analysis, solution design, business case development, implementation, and performance monitoring.
  • Standardising and optimising existing systems and processes to create consistency and reduce waste, not simply introducing new technology.
  • Challenging entrenched ways of working and influencing behavioural change across diverse teams and levels of the organisation.
  • Advancing the ambition to create a unified, integrated digital ecosystem that replaces the current landscape of multiple tools.
  • Overseeing trials, pilots, and full rollouts end‑to‑end, ensuring solutions are tested, adopted, and embedded successfully.

We want to hear from you if you have

  • Hungry to make a meaningful difference to frontline productivity and business performance.
  • Highly collaborative, delivering impact through strong partnerships.
  • Extensive project and programme management experience, delivering complex initiatives end‑to‑end.
  • Strong PMO capability, bringing structure, discipline, and clarity to programmes.
  • Technical fluency with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Black Belt‑level thinking).
  • A strong background in change and transformation, influencing behaviours and embedding new ways of working.
  • Curious, commercial, and eager to understand how the business operates.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, able to work effectively with senior leaders, operational teams, and technical stakeholders.
  • A high level of accountability, driving progress and holding others to account.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of candidates.

If you have most but not all these skills and experiences, we encourage you to apply, as we may be able to offer development or training to support you
