The Opportunity

We are offering an opportunity to join our Law Department’s Legislative & Regulatory Section as a Government Affairs Coordinator. Our Government Affairs Coordinators promote an external political, business, regulatory and legal environment conducive to enabling State Farm’s mission of helping others. They do this by enabling meaningful, voluntary grassroots engagement by State Farm independent contractor agents and employees through education, relationship building and advocacy.  The selected candidate will be located in Austin, TX working remotely from home. This position involves traveling to company facilities, conferences, or other meetings via commercial transportation or driving a motor vehicle. Key responsibilities in this role include: 

  • Strategically develop, maintain, and enhance associate relationships with elected officials
  • Educate associates on key public policy matters
  • Mobilize voluntary grassroots engagement on key public policy matters as needed
  • Support State Farm Federal Political Action Committee activities, events, and communications
  • Work collaboratively with counsel and enterprise partners
  • Coordinate legislative/public policy events in assigned territory in furtherance of advocacy goals
  • Deploy communication strategies through various channels to advance public policy and brand promotion objectives
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of state and federal legislative processes for strategic government engagement
  • Skilled at building and leveraging relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers to advance goals
  • Proven track record in legislative affairs, government relations, and grassroots advocacy to influence policy
  • Skilled in Political Action Committee work – effective facilitation of PAC activities, events, and communications
  • Exceptional communicator, skilled at presenting complex information clearly and persuasively in writing and verbally
  • Strong collaborator with cross-functional teams to drive shared objectives
  • Adaptable and resilient in fast-paced, dynamic environments
  • Self-driven and effective both independently and within teams
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

  • Applies discretion and appropriate security measures in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • May involve traveling to company facilities, conferences, or other meetings via commercial transportation or driving a motor vehicle
  • May require irregular work hours and travel outside normal business hours
  • Knows, understands and adheres to applicable legal privileges and confidentiality obligations
  • Operates ethically in all manners.  Understand and follows applicable regulatory and compliance requirements
Our Benefits:

Because work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!

  • Potential starting salary range: $66,071.85 - $90,000.00
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
  • Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
