Filo Mortgage, L.L.C. is seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. This position is fully remote and is a full-time, regular W-2 position. The incumbent must have both DE and SAR designations and have strong experience underwriting VA, FHA and conventional loans. In this role you will evaluate borrower income, analyze credit reports and debt information, determinate and review assets and collateral, and review mortgage file it ensure it meets investor requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze information from multiple sources to perform a thorough evaluation and assessment of each borrower including credit, income and assets
  • Analyze appraisals to ensure they are done in accordance with guidelines and that the value is supported
  • Thorough knowledge of agency and government underwriting guidelines
  • Detail oriented team player who can not only decision a loan but work with teammates on ways to structure loans to get approvals and minimize risk
  • Own the credit decision on files from initial underwriting submission through clear to close
  • Monitor mortgage pipeline to ensure closing dates are met
  • Keep informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage risk

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Self-Employed Borrowers
  • FHA, VA Guidelines
  • Calculation of Rental Income
  • Analysis of Collateral and Valuation Options
  • Fraud Guard or similar Fraud Tool
  • Loan Structure and Providing Path Forward when indicated
  • 5 years of mortgage related and underwriting experience
  • Two or Four year college degree or completion of specialized course of study in business, finance or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Deep knowledge of agency underwriting guidelines
  • Experience analyzing pay stubs, W-2s, tax returns and profit and loss statements
  • Experience with DU and LP
  • Strong analytical, auditing, research and decision making abilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and problem solving skills
