The Senior Manager – Engineering oversees India-based engineering resources for the Generative AI Platform. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day development activities, aligning engineering efforts with overall platform goals, and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery. The Senior Manager collaborates with the VP of Generative AI Platform, product managers, and cross-functional teams to optimize engineering processes, foster team growth, and maintain strong communication with global stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Recruit, mentor, and manage engineering talent in India.

    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Project & Delivery Management

    • Oversee end-to-end software development lifecycle, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.

    • Collaborate with product and Scrum Masters to align sprint goals with strategic initiatives.

  • Technical Oversight

    • Provide guidance on architecture, development best practices, and coding standards.

    • Work with solution architects and senior engineers to address technical challenges and performance optimization.

  • Stakeholder Engagement

    • Partner with global teams to address cross-functional dependencies and align priorities.

    • Communicate engineering progress, risks, and mitigations to leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Experience

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role.

  • Experience in AI/ML or large-scale platform development preferred.

Registrations/Licenses/Certifications

  • Agile or project management certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM) are advantageous.

SKILLS/CHARACTERISTICS

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Proficiency in modern software development practices, cloud technologies, and DevOps.

  • Ability to work seamlessly with global teams.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal Office Working Conditions: India-based office, with possible extended hours to coordinate with global teams.

  • Occasional travel for global team collaboration may be required.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITY

  • Full responsibility for India-based engineering deliverables and talent management decisions.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

  • Responsible for managing the engineering budget allocated to the India team.

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS

  • Regular contact with global product managers, architects, and other engineering managers.

  • Potential engagement with external vendors or service providers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision of engineering leads and teams in India.
