Organization: SMCS-Valley Administration Position Overview: Provides clinical expertise, medical communication and quality assessment for the successful and timely transfer/transport and direct admission of patients to and from affiliate facilities. Acts as the single point-of-contact, facilitating arrangements for the patient transfers/transport, and the admission and placement process. Serves as the liaison to physicians, hospitals and other care providers seeking to refer patients.   • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

  • RN-Registered Nurse of California Upon Hire

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • 5 years of recent relevant experience in critical care/Emergency Department; Transfer Center, or Nurse Supervisor

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of patient care with the ability to understand medical diagnoses and treatment information.
  • Knowledge of InterQual or related admissions criteria to assess for medical necessity.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative and regulatory guidelines (e.g., Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), The Joint Commission (TJC), and Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA)) pertaining to healthcare practices.
  • Familiarity and understanding of managed care terminology.
  • Ability to recognize an emergency or high priority situation, and take appropriate and immediate action.
  • Ability to define issues, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Collaboration skills to facilitate open sharing of information and cooperation with various stakeholders to problem solve and achieve desired results/outcome.
  • Displays a customer service focus in all decisions and actions.
  • Ability to communicate through verbal and written means with tact and diplomacy, and to present information to a variety of audiences.
  • Organization skills to effectively manage and/or re-prioritize activities and projects to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of responsiveness.
  • Ability to interact and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.
  • Demonstrates respect for cultural and linguistic differences and promotes an inclusive work environment.
  • Demonstrates initiative in providing feedback/input to improve workflow/processes.

Pay Range is $82.86 to $108.54 / hour The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
