EEC Solutions is looking for a Medical Equipment Planner to support a possible upcoming contract at VA Long Beach Healthcare System, Long Beach, CA. Note: We are seeking resumes for a proposal opportunity. This position is contingent upon contract award. Candidates currently living in a HubZone designated area are encouraged to apply. Position Description: The Medical Equipment Planner works with the Engineering Service Planning Section under the VA Supervisory Interior Designer to independently plan and execute equipment planning services for major construction projects at VA Long Beach Healthcare System (VALBHS). This role oversees all aspects of medical equipment planning including budgeting, specifications, procurement package preparation, and management of delivery and installation for major construction activations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze architectural drawings, equipment schedules, electrical and data plans to identify gaps and overlaps between proposed equipment and designed space.
  • Perform existing equipment inventory audits, value cost analyses, and comparative equipment studies; provide reuse analysis reports per VA guidelines.
  • Administer and oversee medical equipment planning including budgets, standards, and specifications for all VALBHS major construction projects.
  • Prepare procurement packages per VA/GSA standards including SOW, technical specifications, IGCEs, bid sheets, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, activation team members, and stakeholders including FMS, OIT, Patient Safety, SPS, Logistics, Contracting, EMS, and Biomedical staff.
  • Maintain digital resource library with drawings, plans, specification procurement documents, and project binders.
  • Provide training and education to medical technology end-users and clinical staff during move-in phases.
  • Coordinate with VA Biomedical Department and Logistics to document equipment into Equipment Information Library.
  • Interpret and review architectural plans for concurrence with VA Technical Information Library (TIL) standards.
  • Identify equipment and design conflicts during design process to avoid costly construction delays.

Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree (preferred); or equivalent combination of education and experience. - 8–10 years of medical equipment planning experience in a healthcare/hospital construction environment (SP1 standard). - Candidates must provide resume demonstrating healthcare equipment planning experience and/or bachelor's degree (SP1). - Candidates must demonstrate ability to write equipment specifications and interpret blueprints. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of TJC, NFPA, FDA, NRC, and AAMI standards; AutoCAD and MS Project preferred; VISTA familiarity beneficial. Apply To This Job
