Position Summary

The Specification Technologist is responsible for preparing, maintaining, updating, and publishing of finished product specifications for all products within the organization. This role ensures all specifications, artwork, and labelling comply with retailer, regulatory, and standards.

Job Details

  • Work Setup: Work from Home
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 4: 00 AM – 1:00 PM, or 5:30 AM - 2:30 AM Manila time (To be Finalized)
  • Holiday Schedule: Follows Australian Holidays

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end specification management across finished products, raw materials, WIP and packaging.
  • Ensure full compliance with retailer platforms and requirements including Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Costco.
  • Maintain and manage specifications within retailer systems (e.g. Coles Quality Management System, Woolworths Supplier Hub).
  • Own artwork approval and labelling compliance aligned to FSANZ Food Standards Code.
  • Manage allergen risk using VITAL framework – acting as a subject matter expert and super user.
  • Drive accuracy, integrity and audit readiness of all specification and labelling data.
  • Partner cross-functionally with NPD, Procurement, QA and Commercial teams to ensure seamless product launches and updates.
  • Maintain specification registers, change control processes and governance frameworks.
  • Support audit readiness across SQF, retailer and regulatory audits.

Key Qualifications

  • Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in high-risk food manufacturing.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • GFSI & SQF standards
    • FSANZ Food Standards Code
    • NSW Food Authority requirements
  • Proven experience in specification management, artwork approval, labelling compliance, and claims validation.
  • Strong expertise in allergen management and VITAL.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological and chemical risk in high-risk foods.
  • Experience working with retailer specification systems and platforms.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High attention to detail, organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multifunctional teams.
