[Remote] Associate Underwriter - LAD/Supplemental Health - Remote

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Symetra is a national financial services company dedicated to helping people achieve their financial goals. They are seeking an Associate Underwriter to underwrite new business accounts for Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity, while collaborating with business partners and contributing to sales and profitability goals.

Responsibilities

• New Business Pricing - review Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions including verifying integrity of census data and plan information and requesting additional information as needed
• Develop & analyze manual ratings and if applicable, historic premium/claims information via a credibility formula to develop and communicate new business rate recommendations in accordance with pricing targets and level of authority
• Sales expectations of $1.5 MM per year
• Renewal Pricing – Underwrite large market inforce customer accounts. Supplemental Health generally up to 5,000 eligible lives)
• Process sold accounts and renewals following established procedures while managing a book of business
• Relationships - develop and maintain positive relationships with Symetra sales, field and home office service and actuarial teams
• Projects and Reporting - participate in projects and training initiatives as assigned
• Maintain accurate and up to date reporting of assigned presales and renewals

Skills

• College degree or equivalent work experience
• 0-2 years of cumulative, relevant experience
• Requires extensive knowledge of duties
• High school diploma required
• Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our company
• Minimum Internet Speed: 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload, in alignment with the FCC's definition of 'broadband.'
