Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer
AECOM is a global infrastructure consulting firm dedicated to delivering a better world. They are seeking an Entry-Level Roadway Design Engineer to support highway design teams in South Florida by collaborating with various disciplines to complete transportation projects for clients like FDOT.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects for FDOT and other clients
- Assist with work tasks required in preparation of roadway design set of plans
- Utilizing CADD to create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Carry out engineering analyses and prepare reports and technical specifications under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Work collaboratively within project teams to ensure project objectives are met within the defined scope, schedule, and budget
- Collect and analyze data, perform field work, and undertake site inspections under the supervision of an experienced engineer
- Attend site visits and meetings in clients’ offices
- Maintain project records and files, contribute to the preparation of progress reports, and communicate project and task updates to team members and supervisors as needed
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level member
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- EI certification is preferred
- Transportation related experience preferred
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Proficient in Microstation, ORD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or other engineering software packages
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented while still being able to understand and comply with the big picture and goals of a project
- Documents time and effort accurately
- Interest in transportation infrastructure design
