Bilingual Auto Liability Adjuster (Spanish/Portuguese)

About the position This position is responsible for handling Personal and Business Insurance Auto Damage claims from the first notice of loss through resolution, settlement, and payment. Claim types include multivehicle claims with two or more cars and unclear liability. The role will also handle more complex Auto Damage claims, such as non owned vehicles, fire or theft, potential fraud, and non auto property related damage. The adjuster provides quality claim handling throughout the claim life cycle, including customer contacts, coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, reserving, negotiation, and resolution, while maintaining full compliance with internal and external quality standards and state specific regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistent service quality throughout the claim life cycle, including prompt contact, explaining the process, setting expectations, ongoing communication, following through, and meeting commitments to achieve optimal outcomes on every file. Fulfill specific service commitments made to certain accounts.
  • Review and analyze coverage and apply policy conditions, provisions, exclusions, and endorsements for Auto Damage claims assigned mainly in Massachusetts. Address the proper application of deductibles, verify available benefits, and confirm coverage limits. Confirm priority of coverage, such as primary, secondary, or concurrent, while considering other jurisdiction specific issues.
  • Investigate each claim to obtain relevant facts necessary to determine coverage, causation, extent of liability, establishment of negligence, damages, contribution potential, and exposure with respect to the various coverages provided. Contact appropriate parties, such as policyholders, accounts, claimants, law enforcement agencies, witnesses, and agents. Take recorded statements as necessary.
  • Recognize and request the appropriate inspection type based on the details of the loss and coordinate the appraisal process. Maintain oversight of the repair process and ensure appropriate expense handling.
  • Establish and maintain timely claim and expense reserves.
  • Manage file inventory and expense reserves by utilizing an effective diary system and documenting claim file activities to resolve claims in a timely manner.
  • Determine settlement amounts based on appraisal estimates, negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits to insureds and claimants. As appropriate, write denial letters, Reservation of Rights letters, and other necessary correspondence.
  • Provide support for other parts of the Auto Line of Business, such as First Notice of loss, Subrogation, Total Loss and Salvage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Fluent in Portuguese and/or Spanish required
  • Active adjuster’s license in at least one state required (any state)
  • A minimum of three years of previous auto claim handling experience
