Global Merchant & Network Services primarily focuses on the businesses that accept our cards. We bring together the businesses that manage and evolve the company's relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express, as well as the team that runs the company’s payment network and manages bank partnerships globally. The Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Product team is at the heart of American Express and is a core function within the GMNS business unit. Each year, we power billions of transactions through our global payments network, serving our Issuing & Acquiring partners in more than 170 markets worldwide. We grow revenue by driving strategic, multi-year initiatives to deliver differentiated value to our merchants, partners, and customers. The Global Network team is a critical part of the organization. Our remit spans the maintenance of existing functionality, the development of new products and services, operating the Network and managing the end-to-end partner lifecycle. Our solutions deliver value to American Express’ Card Members, acquirers and partners across the globe, whether proprietary or third-party by facilitating secure and seamless transactions between American Express’ issuers, acquirers and merchants.

About the Role

The Contactless Payments Growth team is responsible for defining and scaling use cases which drive everyday spend on the Network. This role will be responsible for supporting the business development, enterprise strategy, and operationalization for our Global Transit “Tap & Go”, SoftPOS, and QR products. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented sr product associate to join a new team focused on defining and scaling emerging use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Support the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Global Transit “Tap & Go”, SoftPOS, and QR products
  • Standardize and operationalize product enablement, onboarding, and reporting.
  • Understand competitive and internal positioning for the products through internal and external market research to assist in developing business cases for new products, features, or enhancements.
  • Support in the documentation of as-is processes for product management, product enhancements, key findings and standard methodologies.
  • Support in the creation and maintenance of the product backlog, prioritizing features and establishing timelines for product releases. Partner closely with analytics team to provide input and prioritize analytics requests.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Technology and other adjacent stakeholders to gather and document product requirements and to ensure timely delivery of product features, following agile development methodologies.
  • Assist in the identification of technical gaps and collaborate with broader teams to facilitate resolution risks, opportunities and changes tied to product management initiatives and processes. Maintain core critical metrics. Use analytical abilities and strategic perspective to identify trends & recommend solutions that will help improve the user experience.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Industry Trends: Stay informed about regulatory requirements and ensure that our products comply with applicable laws and regulations, whilst maintaining a pulse on industry trends to shape the direction of product features and capabilities.

Requirements

  • Experience: 2+ years in an analytical or product-related role, ideally supporting enterprise product growth within an Agile environment.
  • Agile Product Development: Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, requirements management, and the end-to-end product development lifecycle.
  • Product Strategy: Ability to support product strategy, develop roadmaps, and prioritize features based on customer needs and business goals.
  • Market & Data Analysis: Skilled in market research, data analysis, and structured problem-solving to generate insights, inform decisions and improve user experiences.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional discussions, influence outcomes, and align stakeholders.
  • Enterprise Mindset: Ability to balance the needs of customers, partners, colleagues, and shareholders while connecting work to enterprise priorities and capabilities.
  • Adaptability & Organization: Highly organized, with the ability to reprioritize and manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
