Policy Research Intern – Public Sector

Job Summary Brookings Institution, a leading nonprofit public policy organization, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Policy Research Intern to join its Public Sector team. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research on public sector policy issues, including data collection, literature reviews, and case studies.
  • Assist in drafting reports, policy briefs, and summaries for internal and external audiences.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to support policy recommendations.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to identify trends, policy gaps, and emerging challenges.
  • Participate in team meetings, webinars, and policy discussions to gain insight into public sector initiatives.
  • Support the dissemination of research findings via presentations, infographics, or digital platforms.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity in all research outputs. Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or recent graduate program in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., STATA, R, Python) is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Interest in public sector policy, governance, and social impact initiatives. Experience
  • Prior experience in research projects, academic publications, or policy-related internships is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with data collection, analysis, or survey research is a strong advantage. Working Hours
  • Internship duration typically ranges from 8 to 12 weeks.
  • Flexible work hours depending on project requirements; remote or hybrid options may be available.
  • Expected commitment: 20–40 hours per week, depending on program structure. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
