Title: Hybrid Automotive Arbitrator I (Vehicle Dispute Resolution Specialist) Pay Rate Range: $17.00 - $18.32/hr Employment Type: Contract (W2 through Tekberry) Assignment Duration: August 2026 Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) Work Arrangement: Hybrid - Onsite Monday-Thursday, Remote Fridays Location: Matteson, IL 60443 (Chicago Area - Manheim Auction) Job Code: 1474601 Position Overview Tekberry is looking for a highly qualified and motivated Automotive Arbitrator I to support our client, a national leader in automotive auctions and vehicle remarketing services. This role is responsible for resolving post-sale vehicle disputes between buyers and sellers in accordance with auction policies and National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) standards. This is a customer-facing investigative and negotiation position - not a call center or clerical role. The Arbitrator acts as a neutral decision-maker who evaluates mechanical findings, documentation, and policies to determine fair financial outcomes while maintaining strong client relationships. Responsibilities

  • Review customer complaints, vehicle condition reports, and mechanic findings
  • Inspect vehicles to determine repair needs and verify claim validity
  • Explain auction policies and arbitration procedures to buyers and sellers
  • Mediate disputes and negotiate repair costs, credits, or pricing adjustments
  • Resolve after-sale issues including title problems, frame damage, mileage discrepancies, and undisclosed mechanical defects
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and arbitration files
  • Communicate with auction departments including reconditioning, dealer services, front office, and vehicle entry teams
  • Determine whether claims meet Manheim arbitration guidelines and account-specific rules
  • Make financial decisions within approval limits to settle disputes
  • Coordinate post-sale inspections (PSI) and document findings
  • Liaise with state or federal agencies when needed (salvage, odometer rollback, etc.)
  • Provide clear written and verbal communication of claim decisions
  • Promote auction services and maintain positive client relationships
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Must-Have Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years automotive industry experience (dealership, service department, mechanical, body shop, warranty, or insurance claims)
  • Strong customer communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to investigate issues and make fair decisions based on policy and documentation
  • Strong documentation, organization, and report-writing skills
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while inspecting vehicles
  • Attention to detail and ability to review technical/mechanical information
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Service Advisor or Warranty Advisor experience
  • Automotive technician or body shop experience
  • Insurance auto claims adjuster experience
  • Familiarity with auction operations or post-sale inspections
  • Knowledge of vehicle titles and damage classifications
  • Experience negotiating customer disputes
