Maintain in-depth knowledge of Federal FMLA and ADAAA regulations, and additional leave laws within States or municipalities that provide greater leave protection beyond federal laws. Review medical certification forms to make leave approval/denial decisions in accordance with various leave laws. Research and resolve discrepancies between associates medical documentation and leave request. Monitor and tracks leave of absences and follows up on required paperwork such as medical certification, request for extended leave, and other required information. Educates Unit Managers on their responsibility within the leave process and various leave laws to ensure compliance and avoid litigation. Manages the associates appeal process for all denied leave claims. Keeps unit managers, Human Resources, and Benefit Team abreast of associates leave approval status. Educate employees and managers on complicated aspects of the return to work, leave accommodation, and complex case processes. Escalate Complex issues including inability to accommodate, transitional work programs for guidance. Ability to manage high volume, multiple tasks, multiple priorities, with frequent interruptions. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of experience administering leave of absence.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements related to leave of absence, including Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and any state regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to multitask is essential
  • Strong time management and ownership of deliverables.
  • Must have customer service experience.
  • Detail orientation with ability to analyze, problem solve, organize and manage multiple priorities and excellent follow up skills in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing and creative.
  • Must have FMLA experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual, fluent in English/Spanish preferred
  • Experience in providing consultation and training on disability issues
  • Experience with STD, COBRA, ADA a plus.
