MRI Worker Safety Consultant: Identify Advocacy Groups & Safety Committees

Remote · USA Full-time New today

Project Overview We are preparing an MRI safety petition to OSHA and have been advised to engage worker advocacy organizations (distinct from labor unions) that focus on workplace safety, working conditions, and risk reduction for MRI personnel. We are seeking an MRI industry expert or specialized consultant to help us identify and map the most relevant advocacy groups, non-profits, professional societies, and internal committees that influence MRI worker-safety policy and practices. While patient safety is broadly covered across radiology and MRI organizations, this project is specifically centered on MRI staff safety—including MR Technologists, Radiologists, nurses, anesthesia teams, and any personnel who enter or work in/around Zones III/IV. Priority topics include (but are not limited to) solo scanning / lone-worker risk, auditory safety, projectile risk, Zone IV access control, and broader workplace safety hazards unique to MRI environments. ⸻ Scope & Deliverables 1) Advocacy Landscape Map (Worker-Safety Focused) Provide a curated and clearly structured list of organizations that have an explicit mission, active initiatives, published guidance, or visible advocacy related to MRI worker safety or MRI workplace safety, including:

  • Worker advocacy groups and safety organizations (non-union)
  • Relevant non-profits and professional associations
  • Standards bodies and accreditation-related organizations (where applicable)
  • Any established MRI safety-focused coalitions or task forces

For each organization, include: mission alignment, relevance to worker safety, evidence of activity (publications, statements, campaigns), and recommended engagement pathway. 2) Committee & Governance Analysis (Within Larger Institutions) Identify specific committees, boards, task forces, working groups, or subcommittees within larger bodies that materially influence MRI worker safety guidance and policy (examples may include ISMRM, SMRT, ACR, and similar organizations). For each: committee name, scope, typical outputs (guidance, standards, position statements), and how decisions are made or influenced. 3) Key Stakeholder / Influencer List Compile a list of key individuals connected to worker safety efforts (e.g., committee chairs, board members, standards contributors, high-visibility safety educators). For each: title/role, organizational affiliation, and why they are relevant to worker-safety advocacy and OSHA-facing safety initiatives. 4) Practical Outreach Recommendations (Optional but Preferred) A short set of recommendations on:

  • Who to approach first and why
  • Suggested messaging angle for worker-safety advocacy partners
  • Likely points of friction (political/organizational) and how to navigate them

⸻ Ideal Candidate Profile We are looking for someone with strong credibility and working knowledge of MRI safety ecosystems and stakeholder networks, such as:

  • MRSO (Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer) certification and/or MRSE background (preferred)
  • Familiarity with MRI safety and professional organizations (e.g., ABMRS, SMRT, ACR, and related bodies)
  • Demonstrated awareness of current worker-safety issues such as alarm fatigue, staffing ratios, solo tech coverage, and Zone IV access controls
  • Ability to produce a well-organized, evidence-based stakeholder map and make practical recommendations for outreach and alignment

⸻ Success Criteria A strong deliverable is not a generic list—it is a targeted, worker-safety-oriented map that clearly distinguishes:

  • Worker advocacy vs. unions vs. general professional societies
  • Where real policy influence occurs (committees, boards, standards groups)
  • Who the relevant decision-makers and champions are, and how to engage them effectively

If you have prior experience supporting OSHA-facing safety initiatives, drafting safety guidance, or participating in MRI safety governance, please include brief examples in your application. Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
