Civil Engineer I

AECOM is a global infrastructure leader committed to delivering a better world. They are seeking a Civil Engineer I to assist with aviation infrastructure design, contributing to various projects under the guidance of senior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with civil engineering design tasks for aviation infrastructure, including runways, taxiways, aprons, grading, drainage, and utility systems
  • Support preparation of engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation in accordance with FAA, state, and local standards
  • Assist in the development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for aviation projects
  • Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation using established engineering methods
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, electrical, geotechnical, and environmental disciplines
  • Support construction phase services, including review of submittals, RFIs, and participation in site visits as required
  • Apply AECOM quality procedures and follow applicable aviation design standards and safety requirements

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • No prior professional experience required
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar civil design software
  • Basic familiarity with FAA advisory circulars, airport design standards, or airfield pavement concepts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in aviation, airport operations, or infrastructure development
