Job Summary: Blavity Inc. is seeking an experienced Marketing Operations Manager to support AfroTech's event marketing initiatives on a contract basis. This role will focus on executing comprehensive email marketing campaigns, driving community engagement on the AfroTech Connect App, and managing ticket sales analytics and reporting across multiple Blavity Inc. events. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in event marketing, email campaign management, and data analytics, with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This position will be a contracted, part-time W-2 position requiring approximately 25 hours per week and reporting directly to the Director of Content Marketing & Live Events. The role offers flexibility while maintaining consistent availability during peak event cycles, particularly around the annual AFROTECH conference. NOTE: Contracted workers will be responsible for providing their own equipment, including but not limited to laptop computers, cell phones, or any other electronic equipment required to perform their role. Responsibilities: Event Email Marketing & Campaign Execution (50% of time):

  • Design and execute comprehensive email marketing campaigns for multiple events, including pre-event promotions, registration drives, and post-event follow-up sequences
  • Develop targeted email segmentation strategies to maximize open rates, click-through rates, and conversion metrics
  • Create compelling event messaging and content that resonates with target audiences across different audience segments
  • Track and analyze key email metrics including open rates, CTR, conversion rates, and ROI to inform future campaign strategies

Community Engagement - AfroTech Connect App (30% of time):

  • Drive active community participation and engagement within the AfroTech Connect mobile application
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to increase daily active users and session duration
  • Monitor community discussions and facilitate meaningful conversations among members
  • Create and moderate content specifically designed to foster community interaction and knowledge sharing
  • Respond to community inquiries and feedback in a timely and professional manner

Data Analytics & Reporting (20% of time):

  • Generate comprehensive ticket sales reports across multiple events, tracking daily/weekly sales
  • Monitor real-time ticket sales data to identify trends and opportunities for optimization
  • Create weekly and monthly performance dashboards for executive leadership and stakeholders
  • Analyze ticket type performance, pricing strategies, and promotional code effectiveness
  • Track referral sources and marketing channel attribution to determine ROI by channel

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Data,Media Studies, or Business related field;
  • Required Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience in event marketing, digital marketing, or related field
  • Proven track record managing email marketing campaigns with measurable results
  • Demonstrated experience with community management and engagement strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with experience generating reports and data visualizations
  • Experience working with event ticketing platforms and sales analytics
  • Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience marketing conferences, cultural events, or B2B events for audiences of 5,000+ attendees
  • Experience with mobile app community management and engagement
  • Contract or freelance marketing experience with ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Experience with event marketing
  • Technologies:

Details:

  • The hourly rate for this position is $50 for a max of 25 hours per week
  • This is a fully remote, U.S.- based role.
