Interim Controller(Fully Remote)

Position Overview The Controller leads key financial reporting, accounting operations, compliance, and internal control functions while partnering cross-functionally with operations, FP&A, Tax, shared services, and executive leadership. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains strong internal controls, oversees monthly close processes, and drives continuous improvement across the accounting organization. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Financial Reporting, Accounting & Compliance

  • Direct financial reporting, general accounting, and compliance functions while serving as a strategic liaison with Operations, FP&A, Tax, and Shared Services.
  • Ensure full compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
  • Oversee the monthly close process, including analytical reviews of results, to ensure accurate and complete financial records.
  • Serve as the owner of key internal controls related to:
  • Record to Report
  • Procure to Pay
  • Order to Cash
  • Leasing
  • Inventory
  • Fixed Assets

Controls, Risk Management & Audit

  • Identify early warning signs of potential financial control gaps and implement corrective action plans proactively.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, allocation methodologies, and related compliance.
  • Oversee physical inventories and cycle count adjustments, ensuring adherence to established controls.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external auditors.

Revenue, Inventory & Cost Oversight

  • Manage complex revenue streams including direct-to-consumer products, bundles/kits, subscriptions, and B2B distribution.
  • Develop, update, and evaluate policies and accounting memos related to reserves, impairments, and subsidiary-specific accounting considerations.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Implement and maintain efficient processes to improve and shorten the monthly accounting close.
  • Produce timely month-end reporting packages and analytics for the consolidation team.
  • Drive continuous improvement by encouraging innovative ideas and updated process approaches.

Leadership, Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide financial insights and counsel to management on business strategies, objectives, and operational decisions.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization, providing financial guidance to Business Development, Operations, Technology, HR, Inventory Control, Marketing, and Product Development.
  • Train, mentor, and develop finance staff as well as non-financial colleagues to enhance financial literacy across the business.

Qualifications & Skillsets Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA required; MBA preferred.

Experience

  • 10 years of progressive experience across diverse accounting and finance roles, ideally with exposure to Ecommerce/Retail and B2B environments.
  • 2 years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role; divestiture experience a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365, Great Plains, or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and PowerPivot is a plus.
