Project Developer (Interior design)

Project Developers have a passion for creative problem-solving, a strong understanding of artwork development and fabrication, and an interest in both the interior design industry and the art world. Their primary focus is to take creative concepts and bring them into reality by developing specifications, preparing quotes, and collaborating closely with our artists, vendors, and internal creative teams. The Project Developer is an expert in actualizing creative concepts by recommending artwork fabrication methods, printing methods, substrate selections, and framing options, supported by clear specifications and dynamic pricing. This role serves as a vital bridge between the creative and production teams. An ideal Project Developer can multitask across multiple fast-moving projects, remain highly detail-oriented, think creatively, and collaborate effectively while maintaining a professional demeanor in high-pressure situations. This position reports to the Senior Director of Business Operations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Moving creative concepts into materialization, specifications, and pricing
  • Making the initial creative vision come to life in a manner that will be applicable to the client need
  • Working within client budgets to ensure art solutions meet approved aesthetic
  • Working with creative teams and vendors to develop concepts to meet timelines and budget while suggesting fabrication methods, materials, and substrates
  • Oversee the development of prototypes, samples or proofs as needed with vendors and ensure artwork meets the client requirements in features, quality, budget, and commitment dates
  • Negotiate pricing and specification requirements directly with artists and vendors
  • Manage artist and vendor timelines and deadlines
  • Problem solve and periodically monitor and report on project status to internal and external stakeholders
  • Robust understanding of and adherence to artwork copyright best practices
  • Effectively escalate high-level issues to the Senior Director of Business Operations in a professional and timely manner

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Work experience, preferably in artwork fabrication or a similar creative industry
  • Thorough understanding of artwork development and specification including large format substrates, printing processes, materials and substrates, and framing styles
  • Proven experience developing and managing project budgets to meet client requirements and expectations
  • Client facing experience with a polished, professional and confident demeanor
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Must genuinely enjoy organizing, planning and thinking quickly in a fast paced, demanding environment
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Experience working in Google Sheets, Excel, Google Slides, PowerPoint, and Asana (or comparable project management software)
  • Knowledge of interior design and artwork specifications
