Position Overview

As a Customer Service Event Staff Member at SMU, you will be responsible for providing outstanding service to all guests attending athletic events. This position includes roles such as ushers and ticket takers, ensuring that each guest has a positive experience from the moment they arrive at the venue until they leave. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Directing guests to their seats and ensuring a smooth entry process
  • Assisting with ticket scanning and resolving any ticket-related issues
  • Answering questions and providing information to guests about the event, venue, and surrounding area
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the venue
  • Collaborating with other event staff members to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all guests

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide exceptional customer service to all guests, ensuring a positive and memorable experience

Essential Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or prior experience in customer service or event operations preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly and safely throughout the venue
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

* Prior experience in customer service, event operations, or sports management

  • Knowledge of SMU Athletics and the surrounding area
  • Ability to speak multiple languages
  • Experience working with technology, such as ticket scanning systems and event management software
