Experienced Music Teacher – Long-Term Substitute Position for 2024 School Year

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and enthusiastic music teacher to join our team as a Long-Term Substitute for the 2024 school year. As a music teacher, you will be responsible for teaching music as part of the school day curriculum to students in grades 6-12. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, develop engaging lesson plans, and foster a love of music in our students.

Key Responsibilities

* Teach music as part of the school day curriculum to students in grades 6-12

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Provide small group and whole group instrumental instruction, including flute, trumpet, saxophone, trombone, drums, and clarinet
  • Prepare students for their spring concert, including selecting and rehearsing music
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and social growth
  • Communicate regularly with parents and other staff members to ensure student success
  • Develop and maintain records of student progress and behavior
  • Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings, and other school system groups
  • Make effective use of community engagement to enhance student learning

Essential Qualifications

* NJ Teaching Certificate for Music (Limited CE, CE, CEAS, Provisional or Standard)

  • Endorsement 2100 or NJ Substitute Certificate
  • Ability to teach instrumental music
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Proof of US citizenship or legal resident alien status

  • Knowledge of music education curriculum and standards
  • Ability to use technology to enhance student learning
